Rhinoplasty consists of a number of surgical procedures, imagined to either:

  • change the shape of the nose ( for aesthetic reasons )

  • improve the breathing ( septum deviation, in most of the cases )

  • both of the above

The shape of the nose can be:

  • Inherited ( big, humped noses)

  • The result of a wrong development of the fetal facial structures (ex. cleft lip and palate, which involve the nose in almost all of the cases) or

  •  Altered by trauma, tumors or others

As the nose is the most prominent part of our face, it is probably the first to capture the sight of the people that look at us. There are many people who are unhappy with the shape and/or the size of their noses and some of them even fall in depression on account of that. Doctor Paraschivescu will offer always the best solution to the better looking of the nose associated or not with the improvement of the breathing. According to his principles of beauty and balance, there has to be a harmony between all the structures of the faces. No such thing as “nose upon request „will be considered. In most of the cases, will the operations be done using the “open procedure”, which allows the surgeon to better see all the structures of the nose and makes easier their repositioning and fixation. The augmentation of all the structures of the nose is possible. In order to replace or to augment different parts of the nose one can use local or loco-regional flaps, skin or cartilage grafts, etc. In some specific cases, the rhinoplasty must be associated with other corrections of the position of the jaws, in order to achieve a beautiful, balanced appearance. Whenever the shape of the nose is changed, an external pack will be used, to guide the healing, in addition to the intra-nasal packs, which help to prevent postoperative bleeding and maintain the shape of the nostrils.

Swelling, bruising, especially around the eyes (black and blue) and tear are commonly seen after rhinoplasties. The final result is to be seen no earlier than 6 months after surgery. Sometimes, a new operation, to remove the adherences, is after 6 months or more to be considered.
